Graduate Student Intern, Rinella Learning Center

August 2021- May 2022

  • Instructs EDT 110: Learning Strategies for College Success, an undergraduate course designed to assist students to become more aware of their study behaviors, developing more effective study strategies, exploring, and expanding purposeful motives for pursuing university education, and critically thinking about how to become more engaged in their education

  • Counsels students on major/course selection and job/internship search strategies and provides referrals to Academic Advising, Career Services, Counseling Services, and Student Disability Services

  • Manages a caseload of 6-8 coaching students per semester, including at-risk, probationary, and non-traditional students to assess their academic standing, evaluate their action planning, and determine skills-based learning goals to address any concerns

Practicum Experience, Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion

January 2021- December 2022

  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs and resources such as an identity-based curriculum for student organizations, an inclusive language guidebook, and monthly programs

  • Develop, implement, and assess educational outreach and training opportunities for the Miami campus to raise awareness about concepts related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice

  • Utilize student development theories such as Queer Theory, Crip Theory, and Black Feminist Theory to frame student learning around diversity/multiculturalism as expressed through, but not limited to ability, age, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic differences

  • Assist in the interview process and recruitment of MADE@Miami peer leaders

  • Create and distribute MADE@Miami Peer and Post-program assessments

  • Create, implement, and execute one diversity activity to be implemented during MADE@Miami program

Graduate Assistantship, The Graduate School

August 2020 - May 2021

  • Functioned as co-chair of professional development by facilitating meetings and planning over 20 events per academic year to further establish professional, research, and learning enhancement opportunities for graduate students

  •  Communicated with Miami’s and other local institutions’ officials, faculty, and staff to operate logistics needed to further implement programs focused on the academic success of graduate students, such as the Graduate Research Forum and 3MT that included over 75 students during the COVID19 pandemic

  • Created marketing and advertising materials for events to be published on social media and event calendars
